Keep the Baby in Your Room
- I'm really glad I kept our baby in our room as much as possible - she left only for checkups and baths. She breastfed and spent most of the first night in bed with me as she seemed to be eating constantly. I was never that much of a "baby person" but I think this bonding right at the beginning helped me get used to parenting very quickly! I had a scheduled C-section and was a little disappointed that I didn't have the opportunity for a natural birth but that mostly faded away once we went headlong into the joy and sleeplessness of having a new baby.

There is nothing like it...
- A new, warm, naked baby that you just birthed laying on your chest and staring at you. The world calms around you and it's just the two of you. So amazing! After having some breastfeeding problems with my previous baby, I figured it couldn't hurt to really try to not be separated from the baby immediately after birth. It was such a special time and I'm glad I did it. It calmed her and me and just really allowed me to feel that connection in a way I hadn't previously. My birth team just worked around us for what they needed and were very respectful.
