My Pregnancy Loss
We already had 3 older children when my husband and I found out we were pregnant again...we were very excited because this would be our first as a couple. The pregnancy was going great until I was 5 months along. I started having bad cramps and some bleeding. We went to our doctor and had an ultrasound. We were then told that our baby had no heart beat. We were sent home to make a decision on what we wanted to do. Two days later, I delivered the fetus..which was the most aweful thing I have ever been through. This was not a small alien-looking fetus, but a well-formed baby!
Deciding to Get Pregnant Again
We didnt decide to get pregnant again and were actually told that we should wait at least 6 months to a year to try again. That wasnt in the cards because 2 months later, we were pregnant again! I was so scared that I would lose this baby too...for months I had a feeling it was going to happen any minute. It never did and I had a beautiful baby boy and had another baby girl just over a year later!! I still think of the baby boy we lost a lot, wonder what kind of kid he would have been and what he would have grown up to be.
Advice
- My advice to every woman that has had a miscarriage is....try not to dwell on it, I know its hard not to but every pregnancy if different and you will get through it. I believe there is always a reason for a miscarriage, even though it doesnt seem quite 'right'.
