What I did to prepare for birth

How my birth happened
I went to hospital at 2am after watching Mankatha with neighbours and having my grandma's delicacy, Sullian. Before I went to hospital I had idiyappama and sambhar, as I know that once admitted, I dun get to eat anything. And I was only 1 centimeter dilated, so the nurse rang up the doctor. He said that I need to be induced as i was 41 weeks.
So before deciding whether to be induced or not, I took a walk with my husband, as we wanted natural birth, we walked around the ward and I wanted to go the children's nursery, I took pictures and I told Siva, our child will be here tomorrow. And he smiled. He was feeling a bit tense, but I did not comment on it.
At 6am, I was induced. The nurse burst my vein and it was painful, I guess she was tense as well. I was strong enough not to take epidural but the pain was unbearable, so at 10am, my hubby called for the epidural, it made me dizzy and I slept. And I started having painful contractions. My doctor came and visited me, he is such a nice guy! He said, everything will be fine.
My mum got worried and enquired is it possible for me to have normal delivery and he said yes, so she was so confident, my mum was so excited to seeing him, she gained lots of confidence after seeing him.
My hubby on the hand was very calm and composed. There was tv, but no one was watching, my mum and hubby were watching me.
I had my favourite goddess Mariamman's picture infront of me to give me the strength. I had my brother, Raja's picture infront of me,to convince myself, I am going to have a cute baby.
My mum was by myside and I remember turning around and telling her, I can take the pain, mum.
The clock was infront of me and it was ticking. It was 2 O clock, I remembered my hubby has not eaten, i turned around and told him, have your lunch..
After he left the room, my mum told me, you can do it dun worry. Then my hubby came back with a veggie salad for mum and my mum left the room. My hubby told me, dun worry I am here, nothing will happen to you, I understand what you are going through..it was very sweet of him and I dozed off.
I woke up at 3pm, and told my mum back hurts and I can do this, she was a strong lady. She sat and wrote Sree Rama Jayam 1000 times. At 11pm, I told the nurse I'm ready to give birth and asked my mum to say, "Om Shakti" Navin came to this world with a smile @ 11:55pm.
Lessons learned
- Taking Epidural helps to relax and gain energy during active labour.
- Strong belive in God helped me.
- Keep your mum next to you.
- Hubby needs to be calm and composed. My husband was there for me during each injection and medicine, he was my guarding angel.
