How my birth happened
At 39 weeks I went to my weekly doctor visit on 5/3/12 after being examined we found out I was 4 cm dilated, I was so surprised because I hadn't had any contractions at all. My doc gave me options whether I wanted to be induced or just wait it out, although I’ve heard many horror stories about being induced I decided to do it, I was becoming very exhausted and swollen so I just wanted to get it over with. So Monday afternoon I checked into the hospital at 3:00pm, by 4:00pm I was in my delivery room hooked up to Pitocin drip nothing was happening, then at 6:30 pm I coughed and felt a gush, sure enough it was my water breaking. Nurse came in and confirmed it was my water and said I should have a baby in my arms in a few hours. =). Contractions started kicking in very strong one after another, so I opted for an epidural and it was the BEST decision ever!!! I felt it work right away and No it does not hurt like many people say, My IV hurt more when being put in than the epidural. So it was now a waiting game, at 8pm my doc came in to check my dilation, sure enough I was 10 CM dilated. I was so excited. I couldn’t push just yet because the baby wasn’t low enough in the birth canal and I had no feeling yet because of the epidural. finally at 10:30 nurse and my doc came in and we did 4 practice pushes, then I pushed for a total or 20 mins after that and just like that my lil boy was here, I did not feel any pain at all, did not feel any contractions, I had a first degree tear and did not feel that either, BEST experience ever!!!
Lessons learned
