Preeclampsia Leads to Higher Risk of Type 2 Diabetes

When suffering from preeclampsia we know that the current pregnancy is at a higher risk for problems like preterm labor, premature birth, strokes, later cardiovascular disease and other disorders due to the condition of pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH) and the more severe forms ecclampsia and preeclampsia. Now there is information that suggest the risk of getting Type 2 Diabetes, even when you did not suffer from gestational diabetes, is twice as high (about 1.9%) as women who did not have preeclampsia in pregnancy.
