This company has a history of making fine baby products
. They started with their now famous muslin swaddling blanket
and expanded their line. They now have multiple products including a line of skin care products, but the heart of their line are their muslin products, including the fitted crib sheets available in organic and conventional made of 100% cotton muslin.
Putting the Crib Sheets On
When I first looked at these sheets I was a bit concerned about how well they would actually fit the mattress. For safety reasons, you want a well fitted sheet. These sheets were amazingly easy to put on, with a thicker band of elastic than you normally see in crib sheets. But the fit was very snug and safe for the mattress.
Typically when you put on a crib sheet, you have to struggle and flip the sheet around and around until you find the right side. These sheets were simple to put on and I could easily do it by myself, rather than having to find someone to help me. This is a huge benefit when you're doing a middle of the night sheet change as you often do with little babies.
The muslin is a really great fabric. It's very soft and durable. Even after many, many washes the prints were still great looking and vibrant. The materials also get softer as you wash them. Though the one thing I will tell you is that the fabric looks thinner, this meant that I could see the writing on the one end of my mattress showing through. A flip of the mattress was enough to hide this, but you could also use a crib mattress protector. There was no pilling or tearing, despite the high use of the sheets.
We also put the crib sheets through a toddler test. Many crib mattresses also work in toddler beds. Though toddlers are known for moving a lot in their sleep and being really hard on sheets. Even with a really active toddler, these sheets stayed in place every night.
Also despite the spills and thrills of toddler sleep, the sheet withstood maximum torture and twisting. One of our toddler testers is also a master at removing crib sheets, but these sheets foiled that activity, much to the pleasure of the mother and father!
Fitted Crib Sheets
The Aden + Anais Fitted Crib Sheets come in both conventional and organic 100% cotton muslin. The regular fitted cribs sheets are available in nine colors and prints (jungle jam-giraffe, solid white, solid gray, fawn stars, solid pink, owls, solid blue, solid pink, flying dog, up up and away (stars)). There are four version of the organic (pure (white), snuggle bug, oasis, starstruck).
The Bottom Line
The Aden + Anais Fitted Crib Sheets are one of the best crib sheets I have ever used. They were easy to put on, even alone and in the middle of the night. They worked well at temperature regulating the kids form cold weather to warm weather. The variety of colors and patterns offer something for every nursery. They held up well in the washer, even after many washes, retaining both color and elasticity.
They do cost a bit more than a average crib sheet, but you won't be replacing these, even as your child grows into toddlerhood or you welcome a new baby. These sheets are well worth the investment.
