Thirty-Six Weeks

Ah, 36 weeks! I'm told it's all gravy from this point on. While that may be true it doesn't stop my hips from aching. In fact, that's my biggest pregnancy complaint. It's hard to walk around and hear how it could be any minute. There are days I wonder if my pregnancy will outlast my bottle of antacids...

Thirty-Six Weeks, One Day

Kevin and I did the belly cast tonight. It was fun. Hilary stayed up to watch. She didn't participate in the last one but has really blossomed as an artist. She was pretty amazed in me being covered in plaster!

With Lilah we used two rolls of the casting material. This time I bought three. Well, it covered my belly but it's so weak we'll have to reinforce it with more plaster. I can't wait to do a side-by-side comparison of the two casts.

Thirty-Six Weeks, Two Days

We walked around at a local school's holiday fair. The kids had fun doing beeswax modeling, sword making, brass rubbing, and of course, the fish pond. The hot apple cider was good and I always run into people I don't see often. It was fun. Kim and her family came with us after lunch at our house and gym in the morning for the little ones.

I've been having more and more contractions. The pressure is building quite literally. Hilary and I spent a good portion of the evening cleaning out my bedroom. I finally got the fax machine out of the co-sleeper. Then I crashed on the couch to watch television with Kevin. I'm feeling all nesty...

Thirty-Six Weeks, Three Days

Kevin and I had a fight last night. The more contractions I had, the more he ignored me. At one point I started crying because I just wanted him with me, but he was complaining about his sinuses hurting from the chemicals we used to clean with. So he hears me crying and thinks it's the contractions. Now, rather than come help me, he hollers over from the other room, "If it's that bad call the midwife!" I was heart broken.

We talked about it today and he's sorry. He pointed out I'm getting moodier and that he was moody to begin with. He's just not ready, but he's working on it. Whatever.

Hilary and I picked paint out and then everyone gathered in the backyard to paint my belly. (See photo above.) It was fun. The day was really warm, so I went out in short pants and a short sleeved shirt. Once the kids splashed me with wet paint - yikes! It was cold! Everything would have been fine if it hadn't been for Isaac throwing dried leaves up over my head while I was covered in wet paint. Kevin fixed it and Hilary was having a blast. It was pretty memorable. More photos of the belly painting.

Thirty-Six Weeks, Four Days

Today was a very busy day! Two midwifery appointments! Babies are growing fine. I'm doing well, though my feet and lower legs are swollen. So if I keep them up or rest it goes down. I still live in the bath tub. I have no desire to see what the water bill will be this month! Everything is ready and in place. No one seems to believe I've made it this far. I'm just relieved that the babies are growing and healthy. Birth weight predictions are about 7 and 6 lbs. The house and "stuff" are all ready. Now if only *I* felt ready.

I had contractions 3-4 minutes apart for 6 hours tonight. But obviously I'm still here...
