October 31, 2002:
Thirty-Three Weeks

Another hectic day! We planned to take Lilah dressed up to a few houses and a friend brought her little girl over to do the same. Both little ones were so tired and cranky it wasn't very much fun. The bigger kids went with Kevin and trick or treated for three miles!

I have to admit that after having been due the last two times on October 21, I've gotten used to the idea of trick or treating as a way of bringing on labor. Before Isaac's birth, I walked so far the kids even begged to go home. He was finally born three days later.

As for the Halloween candy, the good news is that I'm never hungry and don't crave it...

Thirty-Three Weeks, Two Days

This was my first "free" day in awhile. But of course, we wound up doing lots of stuff with the kids. It was fun and despite moving around a lot, my ankles were not nearly as swollen as they are when I go to work. That is a good thing. I never knew that swelling could be so painful.

The names Nose and Owl have really stuck and now we all find ourselves calling the babies by those names. I guess it's better than A and B. Some days the birth feels so far away...

Thirty-Three Weeks, Four Days

Yesterday we had Isaac's birthday party! It's been a wild week with four big things in 7 days. Lilah was really upset, she's just gotten the hang of the birthday thing and doesn't understand why it wasn't still her turn. Isaac even got a can opener for his birthday. (Okay so Bubbye left it there by mistake... It was still funny!) I did not play on the trampoline.

My sister and I went out to the store to buy yarn for presents. I also picked up some birth supplies. You know - duct tape. LOL

Thirty-Three Weeks, Six Days

Last night Kevin told me that Hilary and he were walking in the mall and ran into some people we knew. They asked how I was doing and Hilary piped up, "She's doing fine! But she looks like a turtle when she lays on her back..." Everyone had a good laugh. I think it's funny.

Our birth kit also arrived. It was so weird to see two bulb syringes and four cord clamps and baby hats. It feels weird.

I went to visit a friend who had twins about 10 days ago. I brought some meals over. Seeing those two little heads really freaked me out and I told her so. She laughed and said, "But you have four kids already!" I told her I was used to one at a time. It's still nearly impossible to fathom that in a few weeks that will be us!

Our postpartum doulas come tonight to get something set up for helping our family after the birth. Kevin and I talked about it last night. Part of our needs will depend on the babies and part will be the hectic time of day when Kevin brings everyone home from school!
