A repeat cesarean is defined as a cesarean surgery done after a woman has had a prior cesarean birth.

There has been a lot of recent discussion of how many cesareans a woman should have. The National Institutes of Health recommended that women who were having cesarean birth limit their family size to one or two children. Babies tend to be at an increased risk for breathing difficulties than their vaginally born counterparts as well as other potential complications.

Maternal risks can also be increased with additional surgeries, including adhesions.
