I just wanted to share my story....On jan 18th I had a perfect baby
girl...Juliana Linda, But it all started at 6am in the 17th. Thats when
my water broke. It was odd because I did not know what was going on,
onlt that I was starting to have some cramps. I called my midwife and
she told me to come on in. At 10am we arrived and to my suprise, my
water had broke and I was going to have a baby today. The only problem
was that my baby had passed meconium and she had to come out soon. I
arrived at the birthing center at 7:30 with no real contractions. Right
away i was checked...3 cent. So in went the IV of antibiotics and
pitocin and on went the fetal monitor. I started to get upset because I
wanted to be ale to walk around, And I was the Monitor was only on for a
few minutes. The IV though, stayed. I did it all walked, showered, sat
on the birthing ball- an nothing made her come down anymore. At about
5am my midwife jenna thought I should take a rest. There was no way
that I was going to be able to sleep with an IV and contractions. So
they decided to give me morphine-in short it did not work -the
contractions were strong enough for me to stay awake but i was no more
than 4 cen. At 9am the IV came out and we were going to give this one
more shot. Time was running out. By 5pm there was still no sign of
baby and it was time to put my labor experience to an end. It was time
for a c-section. I was not happy- a c-section was the last thing on my
mind but it had to be done. I walked my self on to the OR table. The
epidural did not work so next was the spinal block. I have to be honest
that was really the only thing that hurt- not the contractions, even
after being induced but that spinal block was unreal. In short at
5:28pm my daughter was born 7lb 7oz 21 inches. The staff at the
birthing center was great and my midwife has become one of my dear
friends. so after the whole experience I ould do it again in a
heartbeat. My daughter is my life. so good luck to all of you moms to
be...and remember, its really not that bad-no matter what happens.
