Inviting Grandparents to the Birth

By September 12, 2010

It's Grandparents Day! If you're expecting then you're dealing with grandparents, even if this is your first baby.  One of the biggest questions that comes up is about inviting grandparents, particularly grandmas to the birth of the baby.

If you've been around the site for awhile, you'll know how I feel about mothers and mothers-in-law who invite themselves to the birth.  You know that I think that the mother-to-be has the final say in anyone at her birth.  We've also shared stories of mothers-in-law at birth.

The truth is, for all the warnings I give, sometimes it goes very well.  Sometimes it's the perfect thing to do. Congrats to my friend and her whole family!

I know when i was in Labor I had 4 people there total. I had my Husband, Mother, Sister and Mother in law.. I can honestly say that I personally loved having so many people but sadly the only person that made my labor hard to handle was my mother in law. If she had stayed back like everyone else and just let me do my thing it would have been fine but she is a massage therapist so she was SURE she knew what she was doing… But it didnt help me and only made me feel worse.

There isnt much fun about having too many distractions there but it may work for some.
