Unless you're living under a rock you've heard about the big egg recall for the risk of Salmonella poisoning. The eggs in question came in 6, 12 and 18 count cartons.  The effected farms include: Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralph's, Boomsma's, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund, Dutch Farms and Kemps.

Common signs of Salmonella poisoning include nausea, diarrhea, stomach cramps, etc.  Salmonella in pregnancy can be a bigger issue because of the risks associated with dehydration. This can lead to preterm labor. Though there are other potential side effects with Salmonella including infection which can require treatment with antibiotics. Your practitioner should be contacted if you think you have Salmonella.

Salmonella can also come from undercooked meats, eggs and unwashed vegetables. Be sure to wash your hands frequently when preparing food as well as food preparation surfaces, particularly when raw meat, unwashed produce and eggs may come into contact.
