Lamictal in Pregnancy Increases Certain Risks

Lamictal, often used for epilepsy and off label for headaches, increases the risk of cleft lip and cleft palate when used in the first three months of pregnancy according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). When faced with taking medications in pregnancy, we're often in conflict about what is best for us, the baby and the condition for which we're taking medication.
