From the article: C-Section Scars
With a third of women giving birth via cesarean section, there is a lot of collective wisdom going around about caring for a c-section scar. What is your best advice for pain, beauty or otherwise? Did you have numbness? Did the itching drive your crazy? What kind of clothes did you wear? Did you use a special medication or lotion to change the look of your cesarean scar? Share Your Advice
Emergency C-section
- I had a c-section with my first baby 5 weeks ago. The itching is UNBEARABLE at times!!! I haven't had any numbness. My doctor told me to wear supportive panites. Couldn't stand them so I wear these sweat absorbing cami's (not for sweat) but to hold everything in place while I heal. I started wearing them after I got my 30 staples taken out.

a few suggestions
- Unlike the photos in this article, recommend your health provider wears gloves when removing the staples to lower the risk of transmitting bacteria and germs onto your skin and into your healing scar. If gloves are not worn, make sure they wash their hands, first. Fake fingernails are a no-no. Nurses aren't advised to have them because bacteria collects underneath them.

C-section
- I used hydrogen peroxide religiously & healed pretty quick. Letting air get to the site is helpful as well.

c section cut
- My cut is a bit numb around the edges but not too tender or itchy. I have been wearing my regular underwear which are hipsters but hasn't been too uncomfortable. I'm DYING to have sex!

Sanitize
- My first cesarean my Aunt told me to use anti fungal cream. My Aunt Aat the time was a wound specialist. I never had any problems with my incision and I'm now on my second using the same thing and doing great. I swear I live by anti fungal cream and anti bacterial soap (Dial).

C section scar
- I have numbness, itching and pain with my scar. My dr prescribed me bactroban ointment. That help a lot with the healing and the pain. Granny panties are also a life saver right now. But I'm also in the mood for sex.

Binder
- I was giving a binder at the hospital after I had my c-section, it was very useful and it helped me move around more with less pain. Its the best to do it really helps.

Had sex 4 weeks after c section
- It was my first baby and I'm wondering if I should be using contraceptives. (GUIDE COMMENT: Some people have gotten pregnant before their six week check up. Using birth control, if you don't wish to be pregnant, is the best option.)

Surgical spirits
- I used it for two weeks and I was healed. Then for my shelf tummy I was wearing cotton panties. My incision was closed with glue like substance, no stitches and staples.

Massage it!
- My doctor told me that it was more than just a scar on the surface. After I had the staples removed he had me hold some frozen peas over it and gently massage it to help break up the adhesions. It didn't hurt but you could feel the tissues underneath. Now the area under my scar is not lumpy but smooth.

Granny Panties
- Don't laugh but granny panties got me through the first few weeks postpartum. I thought I might be stuck wearing them forever but alas, after three months my scar wasn't so sensitive and I could go back to my regular hipsters.
