Bad baby names

I think you've got a good list - although I like the name Norman. On the girl's list, I would add Ida. However, you never know with today's trend toward bringing back older names. I just read about a woman who named her daughter Dorothy. Personally, I think names are very important. Too much emphasis today is put upon the trends. I think the name selected for a child should reflect the child. I'm passionate about names and talk with people all over the country about them - the best ones are those that have a great story behind them. Pick a name that has some meaning behind it! Love my Nana...

Wanted to name my daughter after my nana, because she is my hero and fave person, but her name is Betty Alvesta. She is always called Betty Boop (which she hates) and no one but close family knows her middle name!

Some Bad Names

Ardell, I don't like that name at all, Hildred, Arethra (sounds way too much like urethra..sorry.,)

Gussie!

My grandmother's name was Gussie Winona and she hated it. The given name is "Augusta," not really so bad. And of course there is "Gertrude." Norma's not so bad.

Bad names

I would have to say the name Edmund is pretty bad sounding. It just sounds so grave and also so uninspiring - from a long bygone era.

Adolph and Jethro

Not really great names. However, I loved this one I saw once: Stan Francisco ( Last Name)!

Oh no! Don't Knock Esther!

Haha - that is the name I really want for one of my girls but my husband doesn't like it. Here's a name I think should go away: Ceril. I had a friend with that name growing up.

Bad Names... But Great Meaning!

The way I see it is - It does not matter the name - but rather the meaning of the name - and if the meaning is great - Then I don't pretty much care how it sounds - but Rather what it means - And by the way - Esther is beautiful - She was a Queen who was extremely beautiful and loved by her King in the Bible - so if only for that reason - I love that name!!!!!!!!!!

Bad baby names

I always love to look in the family tree just to see how bad all of the names were. My grandmother for instance...Maude Esther. I hope neither of those make a comeback, she hated her name.

Uriah

I have a very young client who shared with me that she is naming her son-to-be Uriah. I gently asked her why - she and the baby's father like the name - and they are too young to have heard of the rock band Uriah Heap. I suggested they Google the name.

Baby names that won't make a comeback

Wow, I'm amazed what about Norma Jean aka Marilyn Monroe? And Stormin' Norman from the gulf war? Wow, was that really so long ago that it's been forgotten? I'll add Mavis and Hedwig(Hedy- as in Hedy LaMarr - movie star from back when there was a silver screen)

Bad Baby Names

Napoleon Bonaparte (Insert last name here). I kid you not. Found it in my husband's family genealogy! Also think my grandmother's name, Berta, won't be making a comeback anytime soon!

Family Names

I love using family names but some just can't be used such as my two grandfathers - Herman and Horace.
