From the article: Reasons to Cloth Diaper
There are many reasons that families choose to cloth diaper. Some families choose to do it because it's better for their baby's skin, the environment or their pocket book. Some moms even say that they chose to cloth diaper because they thought that a cloth diaper was cute. Was it money? Was it the Earth? Why did you cloth diaper? Share Your Reason

environment cost

I love helping the environment, but not at the expense of having to spend a lot of time & money since we are on a lower income as well (some pp's mentioned). When I really looked into it, I realized that in the long run it would really save us a lot of money, especially because we bought used prefolds & covers. With the soon-to-be arrival of our 2nd child, I won't have to buy any new diapers, just reuse from my first (who is not even 2 and very interested in potty-training, even though he's a boy!). I have now actually become sort of an expert in cloth-diapering, that everyone I know comes to me with their questions :)

I used cloth diapers because

I used cloth diapers because I wanted to save money. I am definitely interested in the Earth, but I'm more interested in my wallet since my family doesn't make a lot $1000 a month.. no kidding- we live in VA for those wondering and the region is Tidewater if you're familiar with it). I found a great site that goes into detail about how much money cloth diapering can save and it also highlights how to save the money. I like it because it was realistic and I tried it! It's proven to work and I think other moms could learn a lot by using it. This article was helpful as well! :o) http://RuthSaves.blogspot.com Please look at the article that reads "Diaper Your Baby for Less than $200 from Birth to Potty Training". This is the one I'm talking about.

love cloth diapers

I have been useing cloth diapers since our son was 2 weeks old ( we waited for his umbellical cord to fall out). They are fantastic. We use bambino mio diapers and washing and folding is actually minimal work not to mention the savings. your energy bill doesnt even jump as much as you think it would. I highly recommend them.

Living on a small budget

We choose to cloth diaper mainly for economical reasons. I am a stay at home mom and we cannot imagine diapering several children in disposables on one income, also knowing that good cloth diapers can last through several children. We have just about all types of cloths, but some do tend to be our favorite.

Cost and the Enviroment

cloth diapers were a big money saver for us and after I read a story that there will soon be 18 billion disposables used per year being dumped in landfills it was a no brainer for us.

Baby's skin!

My babies all had very sensitive skin. Disposable diapers would give them a horrible rash. Someone suggested cloth diapers. I was leery but it worked very well. I was so thrilled with my experience.
