Baby shoes
- My mother and I had previously been on a family trip together for the weekend. During our trip we went to a shoe store where I found a tiny pair of Converse Chuck Taylor's. To my mom I said, "someday my baby will have these shoes". My mom replied with a smile saying how cute they were. After returning from our trip my husband and I found out were were pregnant with our first baby a few weeks later. So, naturally I went out and purchased the tiny Chuck Taylor's. While destracting my mom by showing her Christmas ornaments, the last "ornament" I pulled out of the bag was the tiny shoe box with the pregnancy test tucked inside the shoes. As I handed her the box I said, "I bought this ornament but I want you to tell me what you think". At first she looked confused but quickly figured it out. She was so excited!! Then we did the same thing to my dad. We wanted to tell them separately so that we could see both of their reactions. It was great!

cookies
- We went to one of those 'make your own pottery' places and made 2 cookie jars. One that read "Nana's cookies" and one that read "Grandma's Cookies" For each of our parents individually. When we gave them the jars, they did not get it. They thought it was to keep puppy treats for our dogs! After a few seonds though it finally sunk in.

Baby flower bouquet of socks
- We broke the news to the grandparents and the future great grandmother sending them a bouquet, but instead of flowers, each bud was made of a tiny baby sock, we found them at an online store called Swanky Blooms and when they got it, they immediately called me crying with joy, except for my grandma, it took her a while to realize that the flowers were actually socks! It was really funny and sweet!

flowers
- To announce to our parents that we were pregnant with our first child I had flowers sent to my mother at work. The card attached to the flowers said: Roses are red, violets are blue, we have some special news to share with you. Get ready for bottles diapers and fun because we are expecting our first little one. She really loved them and called me crying!

Vacation Pictures
- I had taken pictures of a recent vacation before I found out I was pregnant well to share the news with my mom I slid a picture of my son wearing "I'm the big brother" shirt into the vacation pictures. She just about jumped off the couch when she got to that picture.

I'm A Big Brother
- We already had a son that had just turned 1 this month. We had planned on another but we were shocked that this one had happened so fast!! When we had travelled to my mom's for a family Bbq, I had cross-stitched a shirt for him that said "I'm a Big Brother". I was 8 weeks along. Some family members understood immediately and others took a little longer. Everyone loved it and our son was the hit of the Bbq!!

Oops!!!
- My husband and I weren't expecting to have any more babies. We already had a boy and girl and thought we were DONE! I was on the pill, but also on antibiotics and had gotten the stomach flu. When the day for Aunt Flo came and went, I suspected that I was pregnant. Three tests confirmed it. I waited a few days and decided I had to tell my husband. I bought two small gift bags, a pink and blue one, prenatal vitamins, and a bib that said " I love my big sister" (our daughter is the youngest). I put everything along with the tests in the bags and gave it to him one evening when we were alone. I took him a little while, but he got it! While it was unexpected, we still feel we are very blessed. I am due in March 2010 with our 3rd child!

photo evidence
- We hadn't been trying for a baby but when I missed a period we knew it might be happening. My fiancee had to go to work early in the morning so I took a photo on my phone and sent it him. He said he hadn't stopped smiling all day trying to hide his news from everyone. I only told the manager at work and when I had had my scan I showed her the picture in front of everyone. It was amazing to see their faces so baffled till they realized it was mine!

- We had recently moved into a new construction house and all of the bedrooms were white. After we found out, we painted the baby's room yellow/white and got a crib. When we walked each of our parents to the top of the stairs, it took both of them a moment to put two and two together, but when they got it, their mouths dropped open and the tears began!

It was Funny
- We went out and bought bibs that said I love my grandma and I love my grandpa ... They thought that is was a game at first but then finally figured it out . They still have them ... but I thought that is was a really cute idea if you are scared of telling your parents about the first baby ...

Christmas announcement
- Our first pregnancy we told everyone at Christmas. I gave each grandparent a card we made. The front said "We found the perfect present for you." and on the inside it said "Delivery will take 9 months. Expect your present to arrive after June 1st". It took a few minutes, but finally they all got it and loved it!

Picture Perfect
- I was shocked to find out I was pregnant. I had done two IVF treatments that failed, including one miscarriage. I was waiting to get my period so I could start my next and final round of IVF. My husband said to me on day that I seemed a little different and he thought that I should take a pregnancy test. So I took one of those digital ones just to amuse him, but to my surprise it said "Pregnant." We knew our families would not believe us, so we took a picture of the pregnancy test and emailed it to our closest family members.

Read my belly
- We live far from each of our families, so when we found out, we kept it a secret for several weeks, while we looked for flights to visit my parents. On the plane we used permanent markers to write "mommy" on the chest of my shirt and "baby" on the stomach area. We wrote "daddy" on the chest of my husband's shirt. We kept our sweaters on when we got to my parents' house until my mom, dad, brother, and sister-in-law were all in the same room. Then my husband and I both took off our sweaters at the same time and let them read the news. They all gasped in unison and jumped up to hug us. We didn't have to give an awkward explanation and simply let our shirts do the talking. We plan to do the same thing next week when we fly to see my husband's family. Once we share the news with all our closest friends and family members, we will probably post a picture of us wearing the shirts on Facebook.

April Fool's Joke
- I called my husband and I wanted to lie to him for April's Fool and I told him that I am pregnant even I didnt know that I was pregnant and he was like, "Okay, we'll have the baby." I was like ohh that's not fun that he reacted this way I expected and then I told him it was just somethings for April Fool and he just didnt say anything and 2 weeks after the joke I found out that I really was pregnant. Then it happened again, the same thing after 2 years. It was just crazy and since then I have stopped making jokes of me being pregnant.
