The Theme I Choose
We picked out the bedding first...little jungle animals with sports balls. Then we just pulled different colors from that to use on the walls and the letters of his name!
How I Did It:
We taped off a horizontal line around the room where the chair rail would go, and hubby and his sister painted the top tan and the bottom white...when that dried, they taped off stripes every 12" and painted alternating blue and green stripes. The painter's tape in between created the smaller white stripes in between the colors. We pulled some of the bolder colors and patterns from the bedding out to put on the letters of his name.
Advice
- Look at what other people have done to get ideas...we found the idea of 3 colors in a picture of someone else's nursery, and it actually made the striping process much easier than you might think!
- Enlist the help of others - my hubby was thrilled that this was a major contribution he could make, and his sister was excited to share her painting knowledge (as a former Sherwin-Williams manager), and it kept me away from the paint fumes!
