The second trimester is when many women will have an ultrasound to do a fetal anatomy survey to check the health of their baby. Typically these are done between weeks 18 and 22, because this is the best timing to see the most of baby.
This is also the time when some women will find out if they are having a girl or a boy by ultrasound. If you don't choose to find out the sex of your baby, you simply need to tell the ultrasound tech that you are not interested.
