Guide Review - The Mommy MD Guide to Pregnancy
The Mommy MD Guide to Pregnancy is a pregnancy guide with quotes and
stories added from 60 mothers who are also doctors. The book is
divided by weeks but also has a very nice index in which topics can
quickly be looked up. There are also special sections such as "When to
Call Your Doctor or Midwife", "Recommended Products" and "MomMy Time."
This book provides some positive aspects of pregnancy for mothers.
Also, it is very inclusive on the medical conditions that may occur
during pregnancy. Sometimes the stories do not support the text- for
example, the book explains what a doula is and then provides two
quotes from mothers who did not have doulas and no quotes from mothers
who did. The book includes some information about homebirth,
birth center birth and midwives, however, most of the book assumes that
a pregnant woman will receive her prenatal care from an obstetrician.
While the book was primary about the medical aspects of pregnancy, the
authors included other topics, as well. Information on carseats to
planning maternity leave help give a more well-rounded view of what
pregnancy becomes for mothers.
