Our images of parents and parenting form very early. I can remember a number of times being quite young and telling my mom, "I'm not going to do that to my kid when I'm the mom!" Over the years I grew up I said variations of this over and over. In doing so, I was slowly developing a parenting philosophy - for better or worse.
What kind of parent you are rolls your values, your beliefs and how you feel about raising kids all up in one big bundle. Some of your knowledge may come from first hand experience as a child, seeing what you liked and didn't like. You perhaps had some experience with children, probably as a baby sitter or maybe with younger relatives. These all gave you ideas about what you wanted to do as a parent.
While some people may bandy about phrases like baby schedule or attachment parenting - what do they really mean? And more importantly how do your beliefs factor in to these parenting philosophies? Take this quick quiz to get a feel for the pulse of your parenting style.
