Protein and Pregnancy

By , About.com Guide

What:
Protein, 70-100 g

Why:
Protein is an amnio acid that is the building block of every cell in your baby's body. It is very important in pregnancy.

Where to find it:
beans, nuts, meats, many foods

When you need a supplement:
Most pregnant women get the required 70 g of protein per day. Supplementation is needed for some women, including women who are experiencing some problems like high blood pressure. Protein may help decrease this issue.

Other:
Vegetarians do not need to worry, protein comes in nearly every food. If you are a lacto-ovo vegetarian you can consume dairy products and eggs, not to mention beans!
