The Bottom Line
Overall, this book is awesome for teaching babies sign languages, even when the parents do not have a signing background. It is very comprehensive and I'm buying one for my baby's library.

Guide Review - Teach Your Baby to Sign by Monica Beyer
Teach Your Baby to Sign by Monica Beyer uses a good variety of signs that children will use. It also includes helpful tips to remember how to make each sign and when to use sign (i.e.: don't teach a baby a sign for meat, since they don't need it). While it includes pictures of children and drawings it might be nice for the pictures to also use adults since that's what babies see.

As a speech, language pathology student, I really like that it uses real ASL signs not made up "baby signs" (a major plus in my book) and includes a description of why the author chose ASL.

Downside: it does cost a little more at $17.95 than other books and doesn't have the "video" feature - the best way to learn to sign is to see a live person do it.
