Definition: A blood clot that forms deep in the tissues of the body, typically in the lower leg and thigh. Having a c-section or even being postpartum makes it more common. Compression boots and early walking after surgery can help prevent the formation of the blood clot, which can break away and go to the heart, brain or lungs causing death.
