Baby Eight - The First Trimester of Pregnancy

Another baby boy born to a friend and an intense birth as a doula. It's funny how being pregnant really changes your perspective on labor. While it doesn't hinder my job as a doula, I do watch women differently and think about when I will be in labor and the support I have.

My midwife told me this week that she has breast cancer. This may or may not mean anything for my birth, but more importantly it means my dear friend is ill. I will try my best to take care of her.

We also had the visit with the perinatologist today. We did the first trimester screening and the nuchal fold translucency. Baby moved a lot during the ultrasound and Kevin got to see the baby. So cool, he was a bit weirded out about how much the baby moves. The finger poke hurt like hell.
