Guide Review - Bedrest Fitness DVD by Darline Turner-Lee

Bedrest is to help alleviate problems in some pregnancy complications, like twins, preterm labor, incompetent cervix, etc. The problem is that bedrest comes at a high price for the mother who even within a week begins to lose muscle tone. This can complicate the postpartum period and make her feel physically worse than before.

By using gentle exercises for the whole body, using only pillows and a fitness band, physicians assistant, ACSM Exercise Specialist and mother, Darline Turner-Lee developed this program to be done from the comfort of their own bed. The DVD starts out with a word from an obstetrician, but it's important to note that you should clear this workout with your doctor or midwife. You may be cleared for all or portions of the fitness DVD for your pregnancy.

The mothers we had try this really enjoyed having something to do that felt active. You can choose to listen to the instructions each time with Darline's voice or with music only. One mom said that she liked spicing her workouts up by mixing the chapters up or doing them spread out over the course of the day.
