I started using this pregnancy foot scrub when I did a blessingway for a friend. I had to figure out what to add to it as I'd never made a pregnancy foot scrub. Over the years I've perfected my recipe. It's a perfect treat for swelling in pregnancy or just tired feet, in addition to a great blessingway tradition.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Yield: 1 foot scrub
Ingredients:
- 1/4 C corn meal
- 1/4 C coarse salt (like kosher or sea salt) or coarse sugar
- 1/4 C oatmeal (not instant)
- lotion (scented or unscented)
- essential oil(s) (if you used unscented lotion only)
- rose petals
Preparation:
You will want to mix the dry ingredients first. I store them in a bowl if I'm mixing them for immediate use or use in that location. If I'm traveling with them, I'll carry them in a plastic bag. As you're ready to begin the foot bath, add in the lotion, a healthy dollop and a couple of drops of the essential oil for scent.
For the essential oil, you can use any that you like that is considered safe for pregnancy, common ones include: peppermint (invigorating), lavender (calming), orange, etc. Use these sparingly.
Use a tub of as warm as you can stand it water to soak your feet. Throw the rose petals on top to add to your sense of spa and well-being. You can have someone or you can yourself, take the ingredients and massage them into your feet. Since it is paste like you will want to soak your feet at the end too.
