This is a really fun twist on a baby shower. It works well for coed, traditional or second time baby showers. Clocks and time make for great decorations and baby shower foods – think of cupcakes or regular cakes with clock faces. The same goes for invitations, but the real prize is the gift giving associated with this type of baby shower.
On each invitation you will assign the invitee a time of day. Be sure not to forget the p.m. or a.m. portion of the time. The guest can then use their imagination for what a new parent or baby would use at that time of day. Some examples:
8 a.m.
- baby outfits
- baby tooth brush
- stroller/jogger
7 p.m.
- baby bath tub
- hooded towels
- books to read to baby
12 a.m.
- nursery monitor
- baby blanket
- night light
People can get really, really creative with these gifts. Some things I’ve seen: gift certificates for that specific time of day for house cleaning, postpartum doulas services, etc. Manicure appointments also for a specific time of day. A less expensive version of this would be home made coupons for the time of day for errands, baby sitting or something else. There was even one baby shower where the 11 p.m. gift was a very sexy bra turned into a nursing bra. It really gave us all quite a laugh.
