- It is not recommended to buy a used car seat, but definitely not over five years old because of changing safety standards.
- Be sure that whatever item you are buying is in good condition. There should be no loose parts or cracks in the plastic. These may cause your baby harm.
- Whatever you buy should be up to the latest safety standards.
- Used cribs are best when you know where it comes from first. Measure the slats to make sure they are 2 and 3/8th of an inch or less for safety. And the paint should not be of the lead variety. Also be sure it has all its parts.
- Avoid used bottles and breast pumps. These are not wise second hand purchases for sanitary reasons. Not to mention that the big ticket items like breast pumps do have a life to the motor.
