The Bottom Line

This baby bottle is great for babies who are trying to go between breast and bottle. It allows baby to control the flow of milk and therefore mimics what a nursing baby would experience.

Guide Review - Second Nature Feeding System Baby Bottle

The Second Nature baby bottle was a neat find for me. It doesn't drip when held upside down, or even when it's shaken. This is much better than the promised no drip bottles. This also means that baby can't lazily lay under a bottle and wait for it to drip into their mouths, they actually have to work to eat.

The unique diaphragm inside the nipple prevents the flow out, but as the baby suckles at the nipple, it allows the milk to flow. The milk flows out at the baby's pace. The harder the suck, the faster the flow. It also comes out in multiple directions, from multiple holes in the diaphragm. This is also more akin to how the breast works in breastfeeding.

The nipples, since the flow is regulated by the suckling of the baby, are called all stage nipples. This means that you don't need to move to faster flow nipples as your baby gets older. This can save you a lot of money if you use multiple stage nipples.

The bottles come in four (4) and nine (9) ounce sizes. They also have trainers and sippy cups available with the same flow technology. The trainers have handles to help you go from bottle to cup.

The nipple life is fairly short, about a month. Be sure to check the nipple prior to each feeding to ensure that there are no large tears in the nipple that would allow milk to flow more freely than you would like.
