Valentine's Day Goody Bags

My husband and I found out we were pregnant with our first baby on Jan. 28, 1999. We told our immediate family immediately. We were just too excited and have great faith that God gave us this baby & know that everything will be fine (meaning we didn't have to wait to tell). We planned to tell the rest of our family (my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins) on Valentine's Day. So Feb.13, we planned a big family get together & my mom & I purchased tiny gifts (bibs, small baby food, bottles, socks, etc.) and put each in a small Valentine's bag. At the end of our meal, my mom passed out these bags (everyone got one and they were all different). And they all had to open at the same time. So, here they were saying things like, "Why do we need a bib?" "Why do we need baby food?" "What's this for?"......And then my mom burst out "We're gonna be grandparents!!!!" It was all really fun & exciting, but I think my mom had the most fun of all. We'll be married eight years when the baby's born, so we've all waited a really, really long time for this.
