Kinsey Jill

I was only 17 when I found out I was pregnant. After the initial shock and sadness wore off, i was very excited for my precious baby to get here. The beginning of my pregnancy was pretty uneventful. I only had morning sickness for about a week, but it was pretty heavy for that week. I didn't gain much weight at first. Only abot 9-12 pounds in the first 6 months. After 6 months, I started to pack on the pounds. All in all, I gained nearly 50 pounds. During the last couple of months I began to swell very bad. I couldn't even wear shoes. Lucky for me it was summer. I didn't really worry about the swelling until I went in for my 37 week check up. I woke up unusually swollen that day. My appointment was for 10:00a.m. and I had planned to come home and clean the rest of the day. I didn't eat anything that morning but i should have because i didnn't get to eat for the next 30 hours. At my check up my doctor checked my blood pressure and sid it was way too high. He said we would have this baby by tomorrow one way or another. He sent me straight to the hospital. Me, my mother, and my little sister were panicing. We had all joked how we wished the baby would hurry up and get here but we never imagined it would happen. We arrived at the hospital, and I went through all the procedures for being induced. In my childbirth class, the instructor said these procedures would only be slightly uncomfortable, but she was wrong, the hurt. I sat in the bed for a long time with little progress. I couldn't get out of bed because every time I did my blood pressure got really high. I was very bored. Sixteen hors later I had only dialated to 3 cm but the contractions hurt very bad. My nurse, I was lucky to have very nice ones, felt sorry for me and gave me some kind of sho for pain. It was now 3:00 a.m. and I was finally getting rest. THis shot helped me and I progressed rapidly. My doctor came in and checked me before he went to church and I was 5 cm. At this point he broke my water. I really felt little pain through all this. That shot must have done its job!! When the doctor came back from church, I was 7 cm and he ordered an epidural. The first one didn't take and they had to do it again. This was the only time I acted mean to him. After the epidural my labor progressed very quickly and it was time to push. I had been asleep through all this and I just could not wake up. Iwonder what that shot was??? The doctor told me to push and I couldn't wake up enough to push. I felt people mashing my stomach and then I heard someone say they were gonna have t o use the vaccuum. It didn't seem long after that until my 7 lb. 11 oz. baby girl, Kinsey Jill, was born. I was very lucky to have caring, understanding parents. My mama was with me the whole time. I never did really wake up while I was at the hospital. My body had never really had any drugs in it so it just reacted by sleeping. My blood pressure stayed kinda high so had to stay in the hospital an extra day. During the delivery, I tore before the doctor could make his incision so I had  a pretty sore episiotomy site. Today I have a healthy 6 month old who I would not trade for anything in this world.
