While my husband and I were trying to get pregnant, I daydreamed about these wildly romantic ways to tell him that I was pregnant. Months went by and I was not pregnant. I began to get a little cynical. It didn't help that doctors had said that there may be a problem here or a problem there. I guess that I was throwing in the towel. My husband decided that we needed some us time and surprised me with a wonderful cruise to Mexico. He felt that a little relaxation was exactly what we needed. I was looking forward to a week of sunbathing and unlimited pina colodas! Friends have also told me that taking a relaxing holiday will be the answer to finally getting pregnant. I was READY! Then I realized that I was getting my period. I had all of the symptoms- crabby, tired, sore breasts, etc. So much for conceiving in Mexico and naming our child Cozumel. I was just hoping that the trip would not be ruined by my legendary crankiness! Then I realized that I could still look forward to the pina coladas. But what if?.... I asked Keith to buy a pregnancy test. I assured him that I was just being cautious. You never know, right. He came home and went about packing. (Our ship was leaving in less than 3 hours...) I took one and the second pink line popped up almost immediately. I kept blinking and rereading the directions sure that I had done something incorrectly. I took the second test just to be sure. Again two pink lines. I was amazed...how did this happen... as if I didn't know! I shuffled out of the bathroom in my fuzzy bathrobe and slippers with what I can only assume was an absolutely dumbfounded expression on my face. Keith was looking at me like "Honey, I thought you were going to take a shower...we're going to be late." Then he just asked "What?" Poor guy didn't have a clue what was coming next. My voice cracked and somehow I eeked out the words "I'm pregnant." We both stood there crying and this amazing turn of events. The virgin pina coladas were out of this world!
