Twenty Nine Weeks, One Day

Baby has had an active day. We've had fun playing with him or her. Even my grandmother played with the baby. She said she had to start early because she's old. She told me about feeling her babies move inside and it was pretty neat to hear.

She said that they didn't have TV or a radio and so playing with the baby was their only form of entertainment! She told me how my uncle moved a lot, because he was a boy. And my mother didn't move as much, of course, because she was a girl.

I like to hear stories from her, she's had a really interesting life. She actually had her first baby at home, my uncle. And then, odd for the 1940s had a scheduled cesarean with my mother. I've always found it an odd combination. Her knowledge of her body isn't great, so she can't tell me why she had to have the cesarean.

When I decided to have my second baby at home I dreaded telling everyone. When I told my grandmother I thought she would be one of the worst people to tell. But that is actually when she told me that my uncle had been born at home. She felt like he would have died had he been born in the hospital. So, I found my first personal support for the decision.

Well, the baby is waking up again, I think I'll go play with it in the tub. This is the part of pregnancy I will miss...

Twenty Nine Weeks, Two Days

Another prenatal down! Everything is looking great. Baby was head down again, and the heart rate was 152. My blood pressure was up for me, but still well within normal range. Of course, it was a home visit and we had four kids running around, so that could also explain it! I measured 30 cms, at 29 weeks, which is perfect, and I'll have to say slightly smaller than usual for me. Maybe grandma is right I need to eat more!

It's always a relief hearing that someone else thinks the baby is growing and doing well. I usually have a lot of fun at my visits.

Kevin went to childbirth class alone last night. Isn't he great? I had to go to the last orthodontist appointment before my braces come off! That's right in less than three weeks, off they come! I'm pretty excited, but in the mean time they've done some horrible things to my mouth...

A few people have asked me why the long face in my photos. I have to say that it's sheer frustration! By the time I'm ready to have my picture taken, Kevin takes forever to mess with the camera, ask about the light, and badger me to smile. I'll try to look happier, which is how I usually feel!
