Pregnancy Dictionary - R

Rectum: the terminal portion of the intestinal tract extending from the colon to the anus.

RhoGAM®: Given to the Rh negative woman after ever positive typed baby, miscarriage or abortion. Sometimes it's given after certain procedures and during pregnancy. This will hopefully prevent isoimmunization.

Rh Negative: This woman's blood type will be negative for the rhesus antibody. This is not a problem if the father of the baby is also Rh negative.

Round Ligament: These ligaments run on either side of the uterus and stretch as the pregnancy progresses. Sudden movements can cause them to be painful and feel like a snapping rubber band.
