Is my baby getting enough breastmilk?

  • During the first two days your baby should have has 2 wet and 2 dirty diapers a day.
  • By the age of one week most babies will have 6-8 wet diapers a day and 3-5 dirty diapers.
  • Is your baby eating 10-12 times a day?
  • Is your baby content for about 1-2 hours between most feedings?
Ways that won't tell you if baby is getting enough:

  • The size of your breasts.
  • Whether your breasts feel full or not.
  • How often baby is awake.
Remember that the more your feed your baby, the more milk your body will make. Nurse your baby as often as they wish to eat, particularly in the beginning when you are establishing milk supply.
