He said that she had a seizure and that she would have to be taken by ambulance to children's hospital (a four minute drive) to stay at the intensive care nursery. He said there is a number of possibilities to why she had a seizure and that she would have to get a lot of tests done. I asked if i could see her, he said as soon as the paramedics and the doctor from the other hospital come to get her they will bring her in. About ten minutes passed and i could not wait. I told my husband to take our polaroid camera and take some pictures of her. When i saw those pictures i fell in love. Shortly after they brought her into my room. she was a good size and color, she was sleeping, i couldn't hold her, but i touched her little arm and told her i loved her, then they whisked her away. the doctor assured me that they would call and keep me posted. She did fine on the ride there but shortly after her arrival she stopped breathing they put her on the ventilator for the rest of the night. All the tests they did came back good. I was released from the hospital on the 31st, still in a tremendous amount of pain. My husband and i went straight to see her. WE got there did scrub down for five minutes and put our gowns on i walked in and i seen her, she looked at me and cried. as fast as i walked in they made me walk right back out, because of something called shift change, where they make all the visitors leave for one half hour. When i went back in she was sleeping. we stayed for about 6 hours by her bedside she didn't wake up once. i tried everything. i wanted to see her beautiful eyes and i wanted her to look at me, but she didn't. i cried the whole car ride home. I came back and visited her every day. She came home on january 3 1999. SHe will have to be watched very closely through the years. There is a chance that she will have developmental problems due to the trauma and the lack of oxygen to the brain. She is three weeks old now and so far she has already had two doctor appointments. she is doing great and already weighs 9 pounds 12 ounces. she is also starting to hold her head up and she's getting good at sucking her little thumb. as for me i am fine as long as she is. NO more babies for me. I am only 22 and already on my last baby. I am very blessed to have two beautiful children. thats all i need!
