I'm sitting here today remembering my nephew, Nathan. I got the news that Nathan had died overnight. It was SIDS - Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
Previously I had only heard of SIDS on TV in shows like Quincy or on the news. Nathan died in March 1992, it was just before the American Academy of Pediatrics published their "back to sleep" campaign starter in April 1992 to reduce the number of SIDS deaths. Thankfully it has worked for many parents as one of the ways to reduce the risk factors for SIDS. Do you know what the risk factors are and what you can do to help prevent SIDS in your family?
