Returning from Maternity Leave
Thursday April 23, 2009
I've got a co-worker returning from her maternity leave this morning. While I'm anxious to talk to her and have her back, I also know
she's anxious about being back, for many reasons. We often talk about how much time to take off of work, or when to take that time, but little attention is paid to what to do when you go back to work after having a baby.
What is your biggest worry about work after baby?

From what everyone tells me…it’s really important to take somewhere around 6 weeks off from work. Unfortunately, I am only going to have one week off and this is my first, so I’m a little anxious myself. (It’s pretty bad when your husband gets more maternity leave than you do! LOL) It’s a little frustrated trying to figure out what to do when returning to work, not only from the stress of trying to catch up and the stress of dealing with all the questions and such, but also with the baby-there is a lot of stress on the parents regarding who is going to be taking care of their little angel. I think everyone is different however, and handling these situations would be difficult to analyze other than to advice finding your specific stress relief that works for you and not allowing yourself to become overwhelmed.
Oh what a nice post! You are si right about all the maternity leave issues! Well done!
I work from home, so my worry will be juggling home and work, and continuing to keep them separate.
Right now, Hubby is at home, too, so if he still is when we have a baby, we’ll be able to easily work something out for care (thankfully!).
