Epidural Quiz

Monday October 27, 2008

A friend of mine recently gave birth. I went to visit her in the hospital a few hours after the birth of her baby boy. She told me, while it was all very fresh in her mind, that she had used my list of things to pack to take to the hospital with her. I asked her if it was all good stuff. She chuckled and said I needed to add 24 throat lozenges. She apparently used extreme vocalization in labor. Though it worked well for her.

In addition to the vocalization, she also chose to use epidural anesthesia for labor pain. You've probably heard friends tell birth stories featuring epidural anesthesia. Everyone talks about epidurals. What do you know about them? Test your knowledge of epidural anesthesia!

Amen to the throat lozenges. I was very quiet but just the dryness made my throat sore after birth.
