Incompetent Cervix

Saturday September 6, 2008
An incompetent cervix is when the cervix doesn't stay closed until the end of pregnancy. This is more common in women who are having twins or other multiples or if you have had previous cervical surgeries. A cerclage is a small surgery done to put a stitch in the cervix to attempt to keep it closed until later in the pregnancy. Learn more about cerclage and stitching the cervix closed.
