NIH says Maternal Cesarean Request Should Not Be Offered

Though they do believe a woman has the right to make a request and have it ethically considered, with some parameters, including that it not be done prior to 39 weeks gestation or done because of inadequate labor pain management availability. The panel notes that there is not enough evidence gathered yet on cesarean delivery on maternal request (CDMR) as to its safety compared to vaginal birth.
